There is also an inbuilt testing system that allows us to run scenarios in a consistent environment. X-Plane is a good game for benchmarking because of a multitude of options for increasing visual detail, shadow quality, object count, and view distance which mean that the game scales well over a range of hardware (although graphics options have been simplified in the newest version).
